Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson has a chance to return if Detroit makes it to Super Bowl LIX

The other good news was coincidental. Because the game was played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Baylor University Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center, was nearby. And Baylor happens to be Dr. Alan Jones, the medical director of orthopedic trauma services there.

Jones is also one of the national experts in tibia and fibula repairs.

Upon arrival, Hutchinson found Jones present and waiting for him, which expedited the process and led to a seamless and successful operation. That could also lead to a faster recovery.

A lot has to happen before Hutchinson can get back on the field in New Orleans. But at least there is a real chance.

After the season, the Lions and Hutchinson, the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft, may begin working on a new deal for the player who led the NFL with 7.5 sacks before his injury. This deal is undoubtedly expected to make him one of, if not the, highest-paid defenders in the NFL.

Recent history shows that Detroit has been proactive in taking care of their best players and Hutchinson could be the latest. The hope is that matters still have to be dealt with on the field first.

“I would say if anyone could come back, it would be him,” Campbell said.
