DIAZ AND SALAH GIVE ALOT A WINNING START

A beautiful goal in each half, one from Luis Diaz and one from Mohamed Salah, gave Liverpool victory over Bretford in Arne Slot’s first competitive match at Anfield. They are one of four teams with a 100% record after two games and will head to Old Trafford next weekend in high spirits.

The first half was relatively even, Liverpool set the tone but Brentford tried to attack when they could. But it was in such a situation that they fell behind, Ibrahima Konate headed away a corner and Diogo Jota fed a kick to Luis Diaz who finished superbly to complete a nice counter.

Liverpool struggled to maintain momentum after that, with Brentford threatening on the counter and from set pieces. But after a break the hosts played much more aggressively and created several scoring chances before Diaz passed for Salah, who fired an expert finish past the diving Karl Flekken.
