Longtime Republican Alyssa Farah Griffin Admits She Got ‘Emotional’ When She Saw Harris’ Closing Message

Alyssa Farah Griffin has long been a Republican, and remains one today, but on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” the ABC host admitted she got “emotional” while listening to Kamala’s closing message Harris for the voters.

On Tuesday evening, Harris spoke at the Ellipse — the same place where Donald Trump on January 6, 2021, encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol to try to block the certification of the election he narrowly lost.

During her speech, Harris called on voters to once again reject Trump and promised to be a president for all Americans, even those who don’t vote for her. And it was that message of unity and promise of working together across the aisle that stood out to Farah Griffin.

“These comments touched me last night, I must say,” she said during the first part of the day. “I found myself getting a little emotional watching them because the last time we saw a major national figure speak from the Ellipse, outside the White House, was Donald Trump on January 6.”

The host remembered the day very clearly because she remembered being with her in-laws and having already resigned from her job in the Trump administration. Farah Griffin said she was especially shocked when Trump called out his Vice President Mike Pence at the time.

“I just had a pit in my stomach thinking, ‘You just put him in so much danger.’ There is a crowd of people out there ready to march because you told them to,” she said. “So these images of standing and reclaiming that space – and also showing a woman in front of the White House, looking presidential, I think was incredibly powerful… the message resonated with me.”

Farah Griffin noted that Trump is doing nothing right now to appeal to voters who might have supported Nikki Haley (mostly women) like herself, adding that all he’s doing is “spouting lies” and “still on January 6 to stir things up once in a while’. .”

“And I hope people remember that,” she warned.

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
