MAGA Rep. Mark Green’s wife Camie tells lawmakers he had affair with 32-year-old

The wife of Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee accused the top Republican of having an affair during a text message conversation with his colleagues on Wednesday.

Green, 59, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, filed for divorce last month from his wife of 30 years, Camilla “Camie” Green. New York Post Camie claimed the impetus for his filing was the congressman’s “affair with a 32-year-old woman.”

“I offered reconciliation but he doesn’t want to hear about it and has been pushing for a divorce,” Camie reportedly wrote in text messages. After reported that Camie also emailed her allegations to lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

“I am being very open about this because 1) I cherish the prayers of anyone who is willing and 2) I want to make others aware of how easily ‘predators’ are available to our spouses,” Camie reportedly wrote.

Camie went on to attack lawmakers for getting “drunk on power and worship.” That was what led Green to “cut God out of his life, me out of his life,” she alleged, adding that he “developed friendships with other congressmen who were having affairs and getting divorced, drinking, partying, all while hosting a weekly Bible study in the basement of our house.”

“I still pray for him… but my hope is dwindling. He no longer wears his wedding ring and his will is buried in the ground,” she added. “If my story can prevent this tragedy from happening to someone else, I will tell it.”

Green responded to the news in a statement released Friday, acknowledging that it has been a “difficult time for me and my family,” the Daily Mail.

“We are currently in the process of divorce proceedings,” Green said. “Since this is a very personal matter, I ask for privacy. I will continue to serve this district with everything I have, as I have done for the past five and a half years.”

In her letter, Camie further alleged that Green had an affair with a political reporter, and named the journalist’s employers. However, a cease-and-desist letter from the news outlet’s attorney reportedly dismissed those claims as “false and inherently defamatory.”

“Not only did your post cause this reporter significant emotional distress, it also damaged her professional reputation,” content attorney Brian Westley wrote, as reported by the After“We therefore urge you to immediately put matters right.”

(Camie later did so in a statement to POLITICO, saying she wanted to “set the record straight” and regretted her mistake. The woman Green cheated with also spoke to POLITICO, anonymously, and described their relationship as “on-off-on.”)

Green cited “irreconcilable differences” in his divorce filing. After announcing his retirement this year, he reversed course after Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, encouraged him to stay in Congress.
