Manchester City scored three goals in less than four minutes on Saturday to beat newly promoted Ipswich Town 4-1 in the Premier League, rebounding from a shock start at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick, while Kevin De Bruyne added one as City remained perfect on their way to a fifth consecutive league title, while Ipswich remain without a point.

Sammie Szmodics gave Ipswich a surprise lead in the seventh minute when Ben Johnson sent him in behind the City defence. Ederson missed his shot and the ball rolled into the net.

The visitors’ goal woke the proverbial sleeping giant as City made it three in 191 seconds, sparked by Haaland’s penalty in the 12th minute.

De Bruyne capitalized on a mistake from keeper Arijanet Muric to put City ahead, and Haaland earned his second of the afternoon when De Bruyne slotted a ball over the byline to beat the great Norwegian Muric. Haaland completed his hat-trick with a rocket from just outside the box in the 88th minute.
