According to a map of user-reported Verizon issues on Downdetector, an area stretching about 300 miles from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Richmond, Virginia (and including much of Maryland and DC) has been affected.

In an email statement to Newsweek at 7 a.m. EST, a Verizon spokesperson wrote: “An early morning network issue briefly disrupted service for some Verizon Fios customers in the Northeast. Once we identified the issue, our technical teams immediately worked to restore service.”

Downdetector, a third-party site that monitors real-time service outages, reported a wave of outage complaints between midnight and 2 a.m. ET, with thousands of users filing reports during that period.
