Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul undercard change

The Netflix broadcast for Tyson vs. Paul was originally scheduled to include the three preliminary fights, but during fight week it was announced that the three fights would instead be streamed on Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix Sports’ YouTube channels.

The opening bout features rising contender Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington, who hails from Brownsville, Brooklyn, Mike Tyson’s hometown. He will take on Australian featherweight Dana Coolwell in an eight-rounder.

The next fight in the prelims features undefeated lightweight Lucas Bahdi, who last fought on the undercard of Paul’s fight against Mike Perry, scoring a knockout against undefeated MVP prospect Ashton “H2O” Sylve.

The final fight before the main card begins is a women’s super middleweight title fight between Shadasia Green, who was also on the undercard of Paul’s last fight, and the undefeated Melinda Watpool.

Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano in the co-main event of Tyson vs. Paul

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano felt like there was unfinished business after their highly entertaining 2022 undisputed title fight.

At the time, Taylor and Serrano were considered two of, if not the two, best fighters in the world, and the fight lived up to expectations as they became the first women to headline a boxing card at Madison Square Garden.

Taylor won a closely contested split decision to retain her unified lightweight titles, a decision Serrano still disputes.

Taylor has since moved up to junior welterweight, where she suffered her first career defeat to Chantelle Cameron in an undisputed title fight, before avenging the loss to take the titles in November 2023.

Serrano is the former undisputed and current unified featherweight champion, having been stripped of the WBC title after the sanctioning body refused to allow her to fight three-minute rounds, as opposed to the standard two-minute rounds in women’s boxing.
