Murder victim identified in Sunday morning shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man who was killed in a homicide Sunday morning has been identified.

The Lincoln Police Department is investigating three shootings in the city. At this time, LPD does not believe the incidents are related.

On Sunday, September 8, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were called to a fight in the area of ​​North 11th and O Streets downtown.

Upon arrival, officers found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

LPD said a 24-year-old Lincoln man died from his injuries. According to a GoFundMe and an adult film production company, the man has been identified as Saiveon Hopkins.

The other, a 40-year-old man from Lincoln, is in stable condition and his injuries are not life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing and Lincoln Police are asking anyone with information, including video footage of this incident, to call the non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600 if they wish to remain anonymous.

On Saturday at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of ​​33rd and Holdrege Streets on the report of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old Lincoln woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Lincoln Fire and Rescue personnel transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment and she is reported to be in stable condition.

Officers are currently searching for a suspect as part of an ongoing investigation. This investigation is ongoing and Lincoln Police are asking anyone with information, including video footage of this event, to contact LPD.

On Saturday evening at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of ​​33rd and Holdrege Streets for a report of gunshots.

On Saturday, just after 7:45 p.m., officers responded to a weapons violation in the area of ​​N. 20th Street and Cornhusker Highway. Upon arrival, the caller told officers that 51-year-old David Blackburn of Lincoln had just fired multiple shots into the building after the two had gotten into an argument.

According to LPD, officers observed an occupied vehicle with a bullet hole in the rear passenger side. Officers found six bullet holes in the exterior wall near the door where the caller exited. Officers contacted Blackburn at a nearby hotel with the firearm and he was arrested. Blackburn was taken to the Lancaster County Jail for attempted second-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, discharging a firearm near a vehicle or building, and terroristic threats.
