Nebraska basketball is aiming to return to the NCAA tournament

LINCOLN — For one afternoon, Nebraska men’s basketball returns to the Bob Devaney Sports Center in a public setting.

The Huskers will hold an intrasquad scrimmage at their former arena on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.

It will be the first time Nebraska has hosted a public scrimmage under coach Fred Hoiberg, who took over in 2019. NU hoops played at Devaney from 1976 until its move to Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2013. The team still practices in the building.

Devaney will have a slightly reduced capacity with approximately six thousand seats available. The scrimmage will be a “full game simulation,” according to a release.

“We wanted to do something different and give our fans an opportunity to see the team in action in a competitive setting before our exhibition match,” Hoiberg said in the release. “It will be a different experience for our players and provide a good environment.”
