Netflix is backing up most users in the US after an outage, Downdetector shows

(Reuters) -Video streaming platform Netflix was back up and running on Saturday after an outage that lasted about six hours in the United States, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

Downdetector, which collects status reports from a number of sources, showed that as of 5 a.m. ET (1000 GMT), there were fewer than 100 user reports of problems accessing Netflix.

At the height of the outage, which started on Friday, there were more than 90,000 reports of problems with Netflix, according to Downdetector, on the night viewers tuned in to a highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, which Paul won.

Netflix said it had no immediate comment to a Reuters request.

The platform has historically suffered from outages during live or highly anticipated events, with spikes in user traffic often a factor.

In April last year, it experienced a brief outage during a livestream of the dating reality show Love is Blind, prompting complaints from thousands of users.
