North Korean troops enter Kursk where Ukrainians are fighting > US Department of Defense > News from the Department of Defense

It is likely that around 11,000 North Korean troops have entered Russia’s Kursk region, said Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, speaking to media today.

The Pentagon has not confirmed that these forces have been in combat with Ukrainian forces based in part of the Kursk region, she said, adding: “They are moving into Kursk for a reason. We are confident that they would be involved. in combat operations.”

There is no evidence that more North Korean troops are entering Russia, but that could change, Singh said.

The US views North Korea as Russia’s allies, she said. North Korean troops invaded Russia last month.

Over the course of the presidential withdrawal, the United States has supplied Ukraine with weapons, including Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS.

These systems are expensive and in limited supply, so the US will not deplete its reserves as it must consider its own readiness, Singh said.

The Russians have moved their airfields out of ATACMS range, she said.

The maximum range of ATACMS is approximately 300 kilometers.

“The Ukrainians have very effectively demonstrated that they can use indigenous capabilities such as the UAVs to target weapons storage facilities outside the ATACMS range,” she said, referring to unmanned aerial vehicles.

Russian casualties now average about 1,200 per day, she noted.
