Norwegian cruise cancellations: what happens and will passengers get a full refund?

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced the cancellation of nearly 40 sailings aboard three of its ships, leaving passengers searching for answers and alternatives. The affected ships include the Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Star and Norwegian Dawn, whose voyages scheduled between November 2025 and April 2026 have now been removed from the route.

1. Norwegian Jewel: All cruises departing between November 23, 2025 and April 5, 2026 have been canceled. The ship would operate five- to 14-night cruises in the Caribbean and Bahamas from Tampa.

2. Norse Star: The ship’s entire season in South America and Antarctica, scheduled between November 20, 2025 and April 14, 2026, has been canceled. This included several cruises showcasing the breathtaking natural beauty of Antarctica and vibrant South American ports.

3. Norwegian Dawn: Travel between November 2, 2025 and April 12, 2026 has been canceled. The ship would operate 12- to 21-day cruises to Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, offering a wide range of cultural and scenic experiences.

Compensation for affected passengers

Passengers affected by these cancellations will receive a full cash refund to the original payment method Travel weekly. In addition, Norwegian Cruise Line is offering a 10% discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit (FCC), which can be applied to bookings for future voyages.
