LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Many areas will see the coldest temperatures since spring tonight…

FROST WARNINGS are issued overnight for parts of Nebraska that are yet to see freezing temperatures this fall. The growing season is coming to an end for most of Nebraska. Overnight temperatures will drop into the mid-20s across much of the warned area.

Dry conditions and increasing winds will also lead to an increased fire threat in the coming days. Parts of the state will see wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. RED FLAG WARNINGS and FIRE WATCHES will be in play.

As the fire threat indicates… precipitation chances are extremely low through Friday afternoon… but we do introduce some small rain chances late Friday night into Saturday morning… and then again Sunday evening into Monday as a few weather systems slide through the region. At this time we are NOT looking at widespread, significant rainfall…but as many areas are still rain-free this month…anything would be appreciated.

Here’s a look at the expected temperatures for the next few days…starting with subzero temperatures tonight…followed by windy and warmer conditions to end the work week…

The latest 7-day outlook quickly ‘warms’ our weather pattern back into the 70s…includes some windy conditions at times…and also includes some minor rain chances over the weekend and into next Monday…
