First quarter

Jacksonville won the toss and postponed, allowing Drake Maye and Co. were on the field to start the day. New England picked up a pair of first downs by passing to DeMario Douglas and Hunter Henry to cross midfield. When set up with a 3rd and 3, a handoff to Rhamondre Stevenson went 11 yards inside the red zone. A sack then pushed New England behind the sticks, but Maye beat the blitz and found JaMycal Hasty to take it 16 yards for a touchdown. (Patriots 7:0 Jaguars)

Jacksonville’s offense started working right away on their first drive as Trevor Lawerence found Evan Engram on his first two attempts for 21 yards. Back-to-back runs set up a 3rd-and-5, where a short pass from the backfield was stopped short by Jonathan Jones.

Second quarter

Back with the football, New England faced a third and fourth opening. With the gun, Maye broke out of the bag and took 15 yards to the ground. Two completions to Henry then picked up 25 yards to move the Patriots across midfield again. Just outside the red zone on 3rd and 7, Maye’s pass to Kendrick Bourne fell just incomplete. Joey Slye’s 41-yard field goal was good. (Patriots 10:0 Jaguars)

Injury update: OL Layden Robinson (ankle) is questionable to return.

The Jaguars’ next possession got moving with a 13-yard completion to Gabe Davis, followed shortly by a 20-yard pass to Christian Kirk. Back-to-back first down runs by D’Ernest Johnson and Tank Bigsby got Jacksonville within 10. On third down, Lawerence found a wide-open Brian Thomas Jr. for a score. (Patriots 10: 7 Jaguars)

After Kayshon Boutte drew a DPI to open the next drive, New England went backwards with a negative run and a tight end screen. On 3 and 15, Maye was forced into a check-down against Hasty, who came just behind the sticks.

Jacksonville quickly threatened New England’s defense when Lawrence sent a perfectly placed deep shot to Thomas Jr. threw, who hauled in a tough catch over Christian Gonzalez, tight into coverage. Three consecutive runs then led to a touchdown. (Patriots 10: 14 Jaguars)

New England now trailed for the first time, facing a 3rd and 10 after a one-yard run and false start on Henry. After the two-minute warning, Maye’s holeshot to Polk was broken down the right sideline.

Baringer’s punt was placed at the four and taken 96 yards for a touchdown by Parker Washington. Jacksonville then went for two on an extra point penalty, where Lawerence hit Thomas for a conversion. (Patriots 10: 22 Jaguars)

With 1:34 left in the half, a first-down negative was followed by an incompletion by Douglas. On 3rd and 14, Maye hit Henry over the middle for just 11 yards, leading to another punt.

This Baringer punt was downed at the six-yard line where Jacksonville had 39 seconds on the clock. A short finish brought the game to rest.
