Paul George on injury: ‘It won’t be a long timetable’

What would the arrival of a new Sixer be without injuries? An MRI earlier this week revealed that Paul George suffered a bone bruise when he hyperextended his knee during the Sixers’ game against the Hawks on Monday, fortunately avoiding torn ligaments or serious injury.

He will be re-evaluated next week and fortunately won’t be sidelined for long.

The latest update is from the man himself, as George shared how he is doing on his podcast.

“I think my leg was just stuck,” George said, remembering the play. “My knee was stuck, my leg was stuck, and when I went to push off, just like all my momentum is going forward and my leg, it just made it go in.”

“I will come back strong and better than ever. It was nothing major or no worries. … I should hopefully be back sooner rather than later, but it won’t be a long timeframe,” he added.

Once George is officially re-evaluated by the team next week, we should know exactly when he returns. If that evaluation comes exactly a week after his injury diagnosis, it would be Tuesday — the day before the Sixers’ season opener against the Bucks on Oct. 23.

At least when George returns, it sounds like it won’t be far away, even if he doesn’t play against the Bucks.
