Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson could end up back in the AFC West

The NFL rumor mill is in full swing with the November 5 trade deadline looming. Saw this week two different ones Denver Broncos linked in different trading scenarios. Friday presented another rumor, this time surrounding Russell Wilson.

Is it possible that Wilson will never face defeat for the Pittsburgh Steelers? Of Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has reportedly requested a trade, the Steelers are one of the teams linked to the Pro Bowler.

The Raiders are reportedly seeking a second-round draft pick, as well as additional compensation, in exchange for Adams, but the shot around Pittsburgh is that maybe a third-rounder and Wilson could make it happen. USA TODAY“Andreas Vasquez explains the figurative proposition.

“Wilson, along with a conditional third-round pick, should be more than enough to take over for the 31-year-old Adams. The Raiders also have their own quarterback issues, which Wilson could alleviate,” Vasquez wrote.

Now make no mistake; this isn’t an insider reporting that the Raiders are interested in Wilson. However, the Steelers appear to be content with Justin Fields – who defeated the Broncos in Denver in Week 2 – despite Wilson being named the starting quarterback before the regular season began.

Unfortunately, a calf injury derailed Pittsburgh’s plans with Wilson, and Mike Tomlin was reluctant to make a quarterback change with his team at 3-1 at the quarter pole. Meanwhile, the Raiders are 2-2 and struggling to create offensive consistency with Gardner Minshew. Aiden O’Connell was in the mix for a while, but Minshew has since regained the starting job.

Wilson is now 35 years old and Broncos Country knows all too well that his best days are far behind him, but as Pittsburgh concluded, he could still be a plausibly competitive starting quarterback in the NFL despite his limitations. Moreover, after the blowouts in Seattle and Denver, he could be highly motivated, and the limits of such elusive influences are difficult to measure.

However, there is no doubt that Wilson has been a major disappointment in Pittsburgh thus far. Even ESPN‘Then Graziano I can’t help but notice the disappointment Wilson has had in writing about the NFL’s biggest disappointments over four weeks.

“It has to be Russell Wilson, right? He hasn’t even played for the Steelers yet, and the way Justin Fields is developing, maybe not! Pittsburgh was praised as smart for signing Wilson to a minimum contract, and it certainly is. ” was low risk, but it also hasn’t yielded any reward so far. I think Reddick might be more disappointing with the Jets because he hasn’t played for them either and cost more. But Wilson seemed to be the one who had higher expectations. Now we have to wonder if his career is over,” Graziano wrote.

Don’t be surprised if Wilson is traded before the deadline. Does he end up in Pittsburgh? Possibly, but it is far from certain.

This is strictly rumor fodder. It’s a situation to keep an eye on as, aside from George Pickens, the Steelers are very limited at wide receiver. That’s why they’ve been linked to several pass catcher trade rumors in recent years.

If Wilson were to return to the AFC West, it would make for a great storyline. But for now, he’s still a Steeler and the Broncos are paying him over $30 million not play quarterback for the Orange and Blue.

It’s almost certain that Adams will be dealt, and one of these days the Steelers will follow up on a wide receiver trade rumor their fans are calling for. He could be a big help to Fields and Pickens despite being on the wrong side of 30.

Adams missed last week’s game and has been ruled out of the Raiders’ tilt with the Broncos on Sunday. Hamstrings are fickle things, as is the value of a disgruntled player’s health, which the Raiders likely hope to retain.
