Post Malone announces stadium concert in Detroit, with big opening act

The concert is part of the first stadium tour of the ‘Sunflower’ and ‘I Had Some Help’ hitmaker.

Post Malone has an announcement. A Big Ass announcement, to be more specific.

The multi-genre hitmaker will perform at Ford Field on May 18 as part of his “Big Ass Stadium Tour,” the singer announced Tuesday.

He will be joined by fellow rapper and country singer Jelly Roll, who told a crowd at Little Caesars Arena earlier this month that his dream was to perform at Ford Field. (In retrospect, it seems that the solution was in.)

Tickets for the show go on sale from November 26 at 12:00 noon via Ticketmaster. A presale for Citi cardholders begins Wednesday at noon, and an artist presale begins Friday at 9 a.m. Fans can register for presale tickets here.

The concert is the second show announced on Ford Field’s 2025 docket, following the announcement of Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks’ March 29 concert at the downtown football stadium.

Posty’s “Big Ass Stadium Tour,” which kicks off April 29 in Salt Lake City and will visit 25 North American cities, marks the 29-year-old’s first stadium concert.

It follows this year’s “F-1 Trillion,” his sixth studio album and first foray into country music, which includes the Morgan Wallen hit “I Had Some Help,” which spent six non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard earlier this year. Hot 100 chart.

Austin Post native Malone also hit No. 1 this year with “Fortnight,” the Taylor Swift single on which he appears. He previously topped the charts with “Rockstar” (with 21 Savage), “Psycho” (with Ty Dolla Sign), “Sunflower” (with Swae Lee) and “Circles.”

Jelly Roll, who is as much a preacher and motivational speaker as he is a country singer, has performed in Detroit a half-dozen times in the past 15 months. At Little Caesars Arena earlier this month, he shared his history in Detroit, going back to his days performing at the Shelter and Saint Andrew’s Hall, and told fans where he really wanted to play was the home of the Detroit Lions.

“I hope one day we can come back and do it at Ford Field, honey,” Jelly said during his show. “That’s my dream, Detroit!”

West Virginia singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell will also perform during the show.

Post Malone has been working his way up the Detroit concert ranks since his Motor City concert debut, when he performed with Fetty Wap at the Fillmore Detroit in February 2016. He then opened for Justin Bieber at the Palace of Auburn Hills in April and was back in the United States. October headliner at Saint Andrew’s Hall.

He has since performed multiple arena concerts in Detroit, including shows at Little Caesars Arena in 2019 and 2022.

Post Malone’s last area concert was in July 2023 at Pine Knob.
