Power restored to 2,000 customers in northwest Reno

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) –9:00 PM UPDATE: Most power in Washoe County has been restored, but was not part of a planned outage for safety reasons.

There are a handful of outages affecting 110 customers. Forty customers who lost power due to a downed utility pole in southwest Reno were expected to have power restored by 9:30 p.m.

There is no estimated time to restore power to the Dayton area.

ORIGINAL STORY: NV Energy reports more than 2,800 customers are without power in the Reno area and 123 customers are without power in Lyon County.

About 2,000 customers are without power from the University of Nevada, Reno west to McCarran Boulevard. That power went out at 4:12 p.m. There is no explanation for the cause and no estimated time for power to be restored.

Nearly 600 customers are without power in the Virginia City Highlands due to a planned fire safety outage. That power will be off until Thursday morning. Another 70 customers lost power in southwest Reno due to a faulty power line. Power is expected to be restored around 9:30 p.m

A tree knocked out power to 123 customers in the Dayton area around 2:58 p.m., and power is expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m.
