Game notes

  • The Boston Bruins are looking to change course as the Dallas Stars come to town tonight – and encounter some kind of offense along the way.
  • The Bruins return home after a lackluster three-game road trip, highlighted by a 4-0 draw against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. The B’s were 1-1-1 on the trip, giving up four goals on the penalty kill.
  • The B’s have to find a way to stay off the beaten path. The penalties piled up before the Bruins hit the road. They scored a total of thirteen penalties during the road trip, including six on Tuesday against Nashville.
  • Jim Montgomery has shaken up the line in recent games, but the team is still looking for his answer in attack. And it’s still looking for top-down production. Elias Lindholm has not registered a point in the last four games. David Pastrnak has scored one goal in that same period. While Brad Marchand has some assists, he hasn’t found the back of the net yet. Pavel Zacha is pointless in the last five games and Charlie Coyle has just one point so far this season: a power play goal.
  • The Bruins were off yesterday, so we’ll have to wait until a little later to see what the lines and defensive combinations look like tonight.
  • Through seven games, Dallas currently has the best penalty kill at 95.5%. Dallas last played on Tuesday, falling 4-2 to the Buffalo Sabers on the road. The Stars started the season on a four-game winning streak and have dropped their two road games.
  • If I had to guess, I’d say it’s Joonas Korpisalo who starts tonight.
  • See you tonight!
