Raiders trade WR Davante Adams to Jets for conditional third-round pick

With his third Week 1 QB in as many years at Las Vegas, this time Gardner Minshew, Adams was especially at the center of the Raiders’ first outing of the 2024 season, a five-catch, 59-yard performance. However, he reminded everyone what he was capable of during the club’s Week 2 comeback win over the Ravens, when he collected nine catches, several of the snicker-worthy variety, for 110 yards and a score to lead Las Vegas to to help win.

Then came an embarrassing upset from the Panthers, a team that had just drafted 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, seemingly toppling the dominoes toward divorce.

Pierce criticized players without naming names, citing some individuals making “business decisions” during the loss.

While preparing to play against the Browns in Week 4, Adams suffered a multi-week hamstring injury on September 27. Las Vegas would emerge victorious without him, and the following Monday, October 1, Pierce appeared to like a post on social media. suggesting the WR had played his last snap as a Raider.

NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo and Rapoport reported on October 2 that Adams had informed the team that he would prefer to be traded that same Monday.

Suitors lined up and about two weeks passed. Adams’ preference for being traded reportedly included a preferred landing spot in New York, and he ultimately got what he wanted, following the dots so many others there had already connected before him.

As for the Jets, it was Adams who made defenders look ridiculous again in Week 2, just as he did for most of his Rodgers tenure.

With about two and a half seasons having passed since their last team, plus Rodgers suffering a torn Achilles and Adams now a few months late for 32, the same old fireworks between the two are no sure thing.

However, it will be New York’s expectation, and given their history, it would be unwise to leave them out – or the Jets during an already chaotic season in Gotham.
