Rainy days ahead, Texas! And the 70s and 80s too.

Unsettled weather will increase the chance of rain across most of Texas as we wind down late August and into the first week of September. Those with outdoor plans for Labor Day should have a reserve in their pockets, but don’t necessarily need to make any changes. Much of our rain chance over the next few days will be of the hit-and-miss variety, not necessarily lasting more than an hour or two for any location.

Scattered storms are expected today to move inland along the Upper Texas Gulf Coast, Southeast Texas, and the Golden Triangle. Rain is more likely the closer you are to the coast. Heavy rain is also possible, with isolated flooding possible. More isolated storms will move inland this afternoon across Central Texas, Brazos Valley, East Texas, and North Texas.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected today across the eastern and southeastern third of Texas. Heavy rain is possible along the Upper Texas Gulf Coast. Rain chances increase tonight across the Panhandle and West Texas as a cold front moves south.Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected today across the eastern and southeastern third of Texas. Western half of Texas to become stormy tonight through Friday

Showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and especially tonight as a cool front moves south across the Panhandle, West Texas, and Northwest Texas. Scattered storms are possible as the front moves south into the Permian Basin, Big Country, and North Texas Friday morning. Gusty winds, small hail, and locally heavy rain are possible.

The weekend and next week are going to be rainy!

The potential for storms continues into the weekend in Texas, although we will see mostly isolated and widespread activity. Long-range weather model data is still in disagreement about next week, but the unsettled weather with a chance of rain looks set to continue. Fortunately, the chance of rain also brings cooler temperatures. Highs in the 80s to low 90s will be standard in Texas. Some lucky folks may not even make it above the 70s! That puts us “below average” in the temperature department for late August and early September. That’s a blessing!

The expected amount of rain for the next five days in Texas offers hope for favorable rainfall for several regions. The expected amount of rain for the next five days in Texas offers hope for favorable rainfall for several regions.
