Rapper Rich Homie Quan Dies at 33

Rapper Rich Homie Quan has died.

Quan, born Dequantes Lamar, was 33.

The rapper, who hails from Atlanta, was known for hits such as “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)”, released in 2015, and “Type of Way”, released in 2013.

Rolling Stone and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that the Fulton County coroner and a relative of Quan confirmed his death on Thursday, but no cause of death has been released.

TMZ reports that Quan’s girlfriend found him unconscious in his Atlanta home and called 911.

Quan, a member of Rich Gang, released his first studio album, “Rich as in Spirit” in 2018.

His other hits include “Walk Thru” (2014) featuring rapper Problem, “Get TF Out My Face” (2014) featuring Young Thug, and “Ride Out” (2015) featuring Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale and YG, from the “Furious 7” soundtrack.

In 2014, Quan was nominated for Best New Artist at the BET Awards and for Rookie of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Quan said before his death in a video interview shared by Alanah Story on Thursday that he expected to release new music before his 34th birthday on Oct. 4.

Rapper 2 Chainz remembered Quan on Instagram on Thursday.

“Dam lil brother,” he said, sharing photos of his fellow Georgia artist. “We just talked about doing a video, special prayer for you and your family, praying for anyone that’s going through anything.”
