Rhode Island 26-9 New Hampshire (October 19, 2024) Game Recap

DURHAM, NH – – Freddie Camp recovered a fumble on a punt return for a touchdown as part of a 17-point third quarter and Rhode Island cruised to a 26-9 victory over New Hampshire on Saturday.

The Rams trailed 3-2 at halftime and nearly took the lead after Moses Meus blocked a New Hampshire punt that the Wildcats recovered in the end zone.

After Ty Groff’s short field goal put Rhode Island (6-1, 3-0 Coastal Athletic Association) on top, special teams came through again for a 12-3 lead. The offense finally contributed when Devin Farrell hit Marquis Buchanan with a long bomb from 57 yards.

New Hampshire (4-3, 2-1) turned the ball over on downs deep in its own territory and the Rams covered 25 yards in three plays, the last three by Tommy Smith.

Matt Vezza threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Logan Tomlinson for New Hampshire in the final minute.

Malik Grant ran for 127 yards for the Rams, who had 171 yards on the ground. Two New Hampshire quarterbacks combined for 215 yards, but the Wildcats had just 20 yards rushing because of four sacks.

Both teams are in the bottom half of the FCS coaching poll.
