Romulus sets dates for digital and physical releases

“Alien: Romulus” will soon burst into your living room, just like the creature that emerges from the chest cavity of Navarro (Aileen Wu) – and pretty much anyone unlucky enough to encounter a xenomorph in the “Alien” franchise.

The seventh installment in the 45-year ‘Alien’ film series will be released on October 15 on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home, ahead of its 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release on December 3. scene clip from the upcoming release, Wu discusses the logistics of playing host to a newborn alien.

“I really have the easiest job,” Wu said in an interview. “I just have to lie there and scream.” She then reveals the movie magic involved in bringing a chest-bursting sequence to life, including building a fake torso and assembling a team of puppeteers to get the creature through “the little door that broke (her) ribs exists to guide.

Directed by Fede Álvarez, ‘Alien: Romulus’ follows a group of young workers who decide to collect parts from an abandoned spaceship orbiting above their off-world mining colony. Upon arrival, they unknowingly release a colony of face-huggers stored for research decades earlier. The film stars Wu alongside Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn.

The 4K release comes as a double-disc SteelBook, with custom artwork and bonus features including interviews with Álvarez and Ridley Scott, behind-the-scenes footage, and alternate and extended scenes. “Romulus” will also be released as a two-film digital bundle with the original “Alien” film, which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. The dual feature will be available in 4K UHD, HD and SD from October 15.
