Scott Van Pelt trolls Steph Curry about Panthers fandom on MNF

Golden State Warriors point guard Stefan Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, so is a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers (1-6).

His Panthers fandom has unfortunately seen better days. Scott Van Pelt happened to be the person who reminded him on national television. Curry, who appears ESPN During halftime of the Week 7 Monday Night Football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2) and Baltimore Ravens (4-2), he signed off his interview with a “Go Panthers.” Van Pelt hit him with a “good luck with that.”

Of course, it’s all in good fun, as Curry couldn’t help but laugh heartily at Van Pelt’s dig. That’s basically the reality for Panthers fans today as the organization continues to struggle with rebuilding.

The latest low point came a day ago, when the Panthers were defeated 40-7 by the Washington Commanders (5-2) in Week 7. Carolina mustered just 180 yards of total offense and surrendered 421 yards, even as Commander’s quarterback Jayden Daniels left the game after the first drive with a rib injury.

Panthers suffer ‘humiliating’ defeat to Commanders in Week 7

First-year head coach Dave Canales has since had the opportunity to review the film. He described it as ‘humiliating’.

“Just a humbling movie to watch,” Canales said Monday. “Looking at all the phases of the corrections, at the fundamental things that we need to improve, and we just went straight to the truth of it, you know, just watching the film, and everyone taking responsibility for the different things that we can improve in various areas.

“Certainly, at all stages it is difficult to look at the truth of what it is, but all we can do is look at those things, start with the basics and the fundamentals of it, and just tackle it and attack it. back in practice this week.”
