Chappell Roan is “Hot to Go!” for her VMA debut.

The pop sensation, who is up for four awards at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, arrived at New York’s UBS Arena on Wednesday night in a striking ensemble that exuded the singer’s signature campy glamour.

Roan wore a flowing black dress, which she paired with a light green coat that trailed down the floor behind her with an extravagant train. She also carried a silver sword for a touch of medieval flair.

Roan is up for Best New Artist, Best MTV Push Performance of the Year (“Red Wine Supernova”), Best Summer Song (“Good Luck, Babe!”) and Best Trending Video (“Hot to Go!”).

Chappell Roan Makes VMAs Debut

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer is not only nominated, but will also perform a solo on the VMAs stage.

Roan’s VMAs performance comes amid the singer’s headlining Midwest Princess Tour. Earlier this month, Roan was forced to cancel a trio of concerts in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin, citing “scheduling conflicts.” Her Berlin concert was rescheduled for September 23.

“I’m so sorry (and) very disappointed :(” Roan wrote in a post dated Aug. 29, X. “I promise I’ll be back. I’m sad about it 💔 thank you for understanding.”

Chappell Roan Appears to Be in Trouble with Photographer on VMAs Red Carpet

For Roan, the VMAs red carpet wasn’t all party and fashion.

While Roan was having her outfit altered on the carpet, a photographer at the event allegedly yelled at Roan to “shut up,” according to footage shared on social media.

“You keep that (swear word) quiet,” Roan shot back. “No, I don’t.”

It is unclear what caused the disagreement between Roan and the photographer.

‘Greatest set of all time’: Chappell Roan May Have Made History at Lollapalooza

2024 has been a banner year for Roan, who released her debut album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” this past September. The synth-pop LP peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in late August. Her latest single, “Good Luck, Babe!”, earned her a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 6.

She’s also struck gold on the touring circuit. Roan performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April and was the opening act on Olivia Rodrigo’s recent Guts World Tour. Her August set at Lollapalooza was packed with fans, with a festival spokesperson later revealing that Roan had the “biggest one-day set” in Lollapalooza history.
