Even Sophie Turner’s most casual looks feel effortlessly cool thanks to one simple trick.

On October 25, Turner stepped out in perhaps the most basic piece of clothing there is: heathered sweatpants with no added frills or intrigue. Instead, the 28-year-old actor added a pop of personality with the blue-gray Eras Tour crewneck that Swifties have been coveting for more than a year.

Turner, of course, became close friends with Taylor Swift following her divorce from Joe Jonas in September 2023. At the time, Swift lent Turner her New York apartment while the exes worked through their divorce. “Taylor was an absolute hero for me this year,” Turner said British Vogue in May. “I have never been more grateful to anyone than for her, for taking my children and me and giving us a home and a safe place. She really has a heart of gold.”

However, it wasn’t the sartorial shout-out to the pop star that took this look to the next level, at least not on its own. What took this airport-worthy casual ‘fit to the next level was her use of the sandwich technique, where your top (or top layer piece) matches your shoes. This method not only balances the look, but also gives the impression of effort without having to put in much effort.
