Southampton, who are in talks for Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, are alternatively considering a bid for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Wolves have also made a bid for Ramsdale and have submitted a loan offer with an option to buy.

Arsenal previously rejected a loan offer from Ajax for Ramsdale.

The 26-year-old is keen to get back on the pitch after losing his place as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper to David Raya.

Bijlow, who played eight international matches for the Netherlands, played more than 100 times for Feyenoord.

Alex McCarthy, 34, was Southampton’s goalkeeper as the team lost 1-0 to Newcastle in their opening Premier League match of the season.

Southampton could also call on Joe Lumley, but Gavin Bazunu is sidelined with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Southampton manager Russell Martin is therefore keen to strengthen his goalkeeping capabilities.
