Steelers fans say the same thing about Cris Collinsworth’s dramatic Russell Wilson Take

Another game, another hate! After being told “stupid” in the Steelers vs Cowboys game last time, Cris Collinsworth took another hit from the NFL fans. And it’s again because of his demonstrably hyped Russell-Wilson view.

During the Steelers’ game against the Jets in Week 7, commentator Cris Collinsworth praised quarterback Russell Wilson, who stepped in as the starter after his injury episode. However, hyping him up in his first match did not go down well with many. And that’s why fans on social media seemed furious with Collinsworth.

So what happened was that Cris Collinsworth portrayed Wilson during the Sunday Night Football game in such a way that it seemed like the quarterback was in great shape, something similar to his time with the Seahawks. But in reality, Wilson still has a long way to go to prove himself again, especially after the upset in Denver.

Additionally, Coach Mike Tomlin’s decision to select him over QB2 Justin Fields after going 4-2 has also caused a stir on social media. That’s why all this fuss has sparked anger among the NFL community. And this isn’t the first time for the ESPN caller!

Also earlier, when talking about the Steelers’ ambitions to win a Super Bowl, Cris Collinsworth put Russell Wilson in the spotlight. But fans didn’t think it relevant to talk about Wilson’s previous Super Bowl victory in that game, which happened about 11 years ago. It was also irrelevant because Fields was in action as QB 1 in the Cowboys game. So the ongoing result of these demonstrable errors is that fans are furious with the commentator.

NFL fans can’t take it anymore from Cris Collinsworth?

It was a tough night for the game’s listeners, who heard Cris Collinsworth talk the entire time about the two quarterbacks – Aaron Rodgers and especially Russell Wilson, saying:Welcome back, Russell Wilson.” All of this, including the dramatic shots and hyped statements for them, did not sit well with NFL fans, as one X user wrote:I almost feel sorry for the fact that Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico have to sell Aaron Rogers vs. Russell Wilson as a big match, like it’s 2014 and not 2024.”

Another felt the same, as they wrote: “Cris Collinsworth thinks Russell Wilson is still the Russ of 2017 and not the Russ of 2024.” Actually, Rodgers and Wilson were considered great players in the league in 2014 and 2017. Over time, however, both quarterbacks’ performances have demonstrably deteriorated.

Hence comments like: “No matter how Cris Collinsworth tries to spin it, Russell Wilson is washed up. It was a mistake by Tomlin to bench the fields when they were 4-2. Fields has more upside than Wilson at this point,” And “I know Cris Collinsworth is a generational glazier, but this is a new low for him. Russell Wilson has been unwell for FIVE YEARS,” clearly say that fans are not happy with Collinsworth’s comments. As they said: “Every time I see Cris Collinsworth on my TV: (a visual GIF of a doll saying) I can’t take it anymore.

Nevertheless, in the game the Steelers now lead 22-15 against the Jets in the third quarter with 7:15 left on the clock.
