“We’ve got three days of Steelers versus Steelers work, so why don’t we do it?” Tomlin said of his reasoning for the extended wait. “It minimizes the Steelers versus Steelers work if we start making decisions before that’s done. We’ve got plenty of time to get ready for Atlanta and make decisions or announcements with respect to division labor or pecking orders and things like that.

“And so we do it at the end of the work week.”

Wilson started for the Steelers for the second straight week on Saturday, but unlike his frustrating performance against the Bills, the veteran led the starters on a quick touchdown drive, covering 60 yards on five plays to open the game. Wilson was 2 for 2 with 26 passing yards, including a deep completion to George Pickens on third-and-long, to end his day.

“They were able to put together a scoring run and gave Justin an early opportunity to get on the field,” Tomlin said.

Wilson added: “Well, I thought our main goal was to get up and down the field and score, that was the first thing. I was ready to play as long as coach wanted me to. Whenever I got to the sideline, he was like, ‘Hey, you’re ready.'”
