Publisher KRAFTON and developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment have officially announced the sequel to the underwater survival adventure game Subnautics 2 For Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store). It will launch in Early Access in 2025.

About

Subnautics 2 is an underwater survival adventure game set in a brand new alien ocean world. It’s the next chapter in the Subnautica universe, developed by Unknown Worlds.

Main features

• New world, new adventure – A new world awaits alongside an entirely new story. You are a pioneer traveling to a distant world, but something is wrong. The ship’s AI insists that you continue the mission. This world is too dangerous for humans to survive… Unless you change what it means to be human. What creatures, intelligent or otherwise, await your arrival?
• Discover with friends – Play alone or with up to three friends in online multiplayer co-op. Whether you explore mysterious ruins, build custom bases, or venture deeper into the world… The challenge of this planet will test your ingenuity and adaptability in unexpected and curious ways.
• Make submarines, tools and bases – Survival depends on using the right tools. In addition to basic items like your scanner and flashlight, you’ll find recipes for more advanced tools, equipment, and submarines. Bases are more customizable with a revamped building system. New instruments allow greater adaptation to the world.
• Discover several new biomes – From towering underwater cliffs to lush coral fields, this otherworldly water world is teeming with vibrant and breathtaking biomes, each teeming with diverse ecosystems and unique creatures. But something isn’t right. The world is out of balance. What happened here? What happened to you? And more importantly: where are you?
• Study mysterious life forms – Discover a rich world full of mysterious life forms, from the smallest fish to the largest Leviathans. Scan creatures to learn more about them. Use your Biosampler to take samples for research. As you learn more about this world, you can develop your genetics to adapt your body for survival.
• Survive terrifying depths – This world is vast and deep. Go beyond the safety of shallow waters and descend into a dark unknown. Wonder and danger lurk around every corner. To survive this planet, you must push your limits and unlock the secrets of this strange world.

About the team

Subnautics 2 is made by Unknown Worlds, a fully remote studio that traces its roots back to 2002 Half-life mod Natural selection. It’s the same studio that made the original Subnautica. The team is spread all over the world, from the United States to the United Kingdom, France, Iceland, Austria, Australia, Canada, India and many more places.

Development in early access

Subnautics 2 will be an Early Access game, meaning it will be in active development at release. You may encounter bugs, features in development, and performance issues. As we progress, we will add additional biomes, creatures, craftables, and stories. Join Early Access and help shape the future of Subnautics 2.
