ROANOKE, Va. – As Francine moves further north, we are starting to see effects that are bringing noticeable changes to our weather patterns. We are also keeping a close eye on the tropics as they become active again.

High temperatures this afternoon will be in the 70s for areas along the Blue Ridge, with temperatures warming the further east you go.

The humidity gauge is also up today. We will see humidity increase day by day as we head into the weekend.

Here is a look at futurecast Friday morning. There will be widespread cloud cover with a chance of light tropical rain showers.

Then, at 1:00 PM, we continue to monitor the chance of tropical rain showers. These conditions will last for a few days and last into the weekend.

We are closely monitoring an area off the coast of the Carolinas that may develop.

Regardless of whether this area becomes a tropical system, there is a chance of scattered showers next week.
