Thunder’s Chet Holmgren leaves vs. Warriors with a hip injury

OKLAHOMA CITY – Thunder star Chet Holmgren left Sunday’s 127-116 loss to the Golden State Warriors with a right hip injury.

Holmgren took a scary fall when he went to challenge an Andrew Wiggins drive midway through the first quarter. After a mid-air collision, Holmgren fell hard on his right side.

The Thunder big man lay on the ground in visible pain for a moment before needing assistance from the field to the locker room. He didn’t put any weight on his right leg when he left in the first quarter with 6:50 to go.

Holmgren left the game with four rebounds and no points.

Through his first nine games, Holmgren averaged 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks. The Thunder are 8-2 after Sunday’s loss.

Without the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft, the Thunder had to use small lineups against the Warriors. Backup center Isaiah Hartenstein has been sidelined for the season with a small, non-displaced fracture in his left hand.

The Thunder will take on the LA Clippers on Monday in Oklahoma City.
