Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1,214 answer, clues and hints for Tuesday, October 15

The puzzle is often a real headache, so you’ll be happy to know that Word‘s creator struggles as much as we do.

Worda word guessing game, was created in 2021 by Brooklyn-based Welsh software designer Josh Wardle. In a true act of true love, he designed the game for his puzzle-loving girlfriend before releasing the game online in October 2021.

The popularity of the game was so great that it was picked up The New York Times for a seven-figure sum in January 2022. Since then, the game’s popularity has continued to grow; the 1000th puzzle was celebrated in March this year.

But despite being the original mastermind behind it, Wardle openly admits that he is by no means an expert in the game.

During an interview with Newsweek, Wardle said, “Well, I did create Word and I’m not very good at it, so there’s your answer! I’m afraid I’m not really the best.”

“(My partner) and I play it together on the couch every morning. She consistently gets it in three tries, which is much, much better than I can ever hope to achieve. It usually takes me at least four or five tries.”

Wardle added that he has no inside scoop on what the words of the day will be.

“When I designed the game, it was for me and my partner to enjoy it, so I made sure all entries were random. In other words, I don’t actually know what tomorrow’s word will be, which means I can participate like everyone else,” Wardle said Newsweek.

Not wanting to tell anyone how to play the game, Wardle also said, “I think with these types of games, part of the joy is discovering those things for yourself, right?

“So I’m reluctant to tell anyone how to play. I would encourage people to experiment with different ideas and find their own words, rather than sticking to the same proven tactic over and over again.”
