Top Democratic Donor Leaves Crypto Super PAC

A Democratic megadonor is leaving a major crypto super PAC over the group’s plan to take down a Democratic senator.

Ron Conway told fellow donors in an email that he disagreed with Fairshake, the most well-funded crypto Super PAC, which spent $12 million to unseat Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in November. The email was first reported by Politics.

Conway, a venture capitalist, donated $500,000 to Fairshake in December, along with a who is who from other elite tech figures.

He said that pursuing Brown would undermine efforts by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, to push crypto legislation through Congress by the end of the year. “$12 million to Brown’s opponent while Sen. Schumer scrambles to get a bill into the lame duck… You all know this is (a) ‘slap in the face’ to Sen. Schumer,” the email said, according to Politico.
