What’s the weather like on Monday in Oklahoma?

Another large area of storms moved overnight. Some of these storms are intense with flooding rainfall.

We have seen a series of storms with multiple circulation points. Due to low-level rotation, these storms can produce brief tornadoes.

The weather team is monitoring potential wind gusts of up to 100-100 km per hour and quarter-sized hail, especially in the southeastern and central provinces.

Severe weather timeline and risks

Here’s what you can expect throughout the day:

Morning: Heavy rain and thunderstorms are already hitting the Oklahoma City area, with severe lightning reported. The first round of storms is expected to peak in downtown Oklahoma City around 6 a.m.

Afternoon: A second round of storms is expected to occur around 11 a.m. Here we could see an increase in the potential for severe weather, including an increased risk of tornadoes. The storms will move eastward during the afternoon and are likely to dissipate around 1 to 3 p.m.
