Tracking cool days and cold nights through the weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Noticeably colder air has moved into Alabama, and you’ll feel it in the coming days! The sun will now dominate the sky over the state all weekend, but that won’t help temperatures much as afternoon highs will remain tough into the lower 60s despite sunny skies.

This afternoon, under sunny skies, highs will warm into the upper 50s to lower 60s. The wind is blowing strongly, from the northwest, around 5 to 25 km per hour, with occasional gusts. Once the sun sets, we go from cool to cold. Overnight temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 30s tonight, with westerly winds remaining breezy and skies clear.

The cold will remain in the air on both Friday and Saturday. Even if the sun shines, highs won’t warm until the upper 50s through lower 60s. Winds will be around 5 to 10 mph to end the week and start the upcoming weekend.

Check out the latest live and local weather data below, streaming on WSFA Weather Now! Please note: this stream does not contain live severe weather coverage, only data on the latest weather conditions.

Overnight lows will drop, expect 30 degrees both Friday evening and Saturday evening! There will probably be frost in the coldest places on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Temperatures will start to rise on Sunday and next week. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s, with overnight lows in the 40s and 50s. This warming is ahead of our next storm system that will bring rain back to the state.

We’ll issue a first warning then, as the rain appears to arrive the day before Thanksgiving, a very busy travel day, and Thanksgiving itself is on the wet side. Something we’ll be watching closely as the forecast data unfolds over the course of this week and into next week.

Tracking the Tropics: There are currently no areas of interest monitored by the National Hurricane Center. The hurricane season officially ends on November 30.
