Trail Blazers monitor for 3-4 weeks

Portland Trail Blazers guard Matisse Thybulle will miss three to four weeks after undergoing a procedure to address inflammation in his right knee, the team announced ahead of Friday night’s final game against the Utah Jazz in Moda Center.

The Blazers start the season without two of their regular shooting guards. Shaedon Sharpe will miss the first few weeks of the season due to a posterior labral tear in the left shoulder.

“I don’t like it at all,” Blazers coach Chauncey Billups said of the loss of both guards. ‘But you do what you have to do. But obviously those two guys were a big part of our rotation and what we want to do. But we will survive.”

The Blazers open the regular season at home against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday evening.

Guard Anfernee Simons, who missed the first three preseason games due to right ankle soreness, returns to the starting lineup against the Jazz.

Billups announced he would start Simons, Deni Avdija, Toumani Camara, Jerami Grant and rookie center Donovan Clingan.

Scoot Henderson comes off the bench.

Jabari Walker (ankle pain) remains ruled out. Deandre Ayton will sit down to rest.
