The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a good start as the new NFL season begins.

It was another close game, but the Chiefs emerged victorious thanks to Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce – and a clutch field goal from Harrison Butker – beating the Cincinnati Bengals 26-25. on Sunday, September 15 in their second game since their Super Bowl LVIII victory in February.

The teams traded field goals in the first quarter before the Bengals, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, took a 16-10 lead into halftime. A long drive by the Chiefs early in the second half gave them a touchdown and their first lead of the game, but the Bengals quickly responded with a touchdown of their own.

Both quarterbacks had rough outings at times — Mahomes threw two interceptions and a fumble by Burrow early in the fourth quarter put the Chiefs up 23-22. The Bengals needed one final field goal to regain the lead, but a 51-yard field goal by Butker saved the game for the Chiefs, giving them the win and handing Cincinnati its second loss of the season.

The home team was cheered on by Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was seated with her friends Danielle and Este Haim, plus her brother Austin Swift and mother Andrea Swift at the tight end’s friends and family quarters at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Swift, 34, was also joined later in the game by Chariah Gordan, the fiancée of Kelce’s teammate Mecole Hardman Jr. The two were spotted jumping and screaming after Butker secured the win.

Patrick’s wife Brittany Mahomes also showed up to support the team on Sunday. The 28-year-old Kansas City Current owner — who has recently made headlines for appearing to support Donald Trump — was on the sidelines before kickoff with the couple’s children, Sterling Skye, 3, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 1. The couple is currently expecting their third child.

Swift had the biggest smile on her face as she cheered on her boyfriend, just days after thanking him onstage at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City.

Swift called Kelce her “boyfriend” when she accepted her award with Post Malone for best collaboration for their music video for “Fortnight,” and said that Kelce was on set after every take to cheer the couple on.

Fans pointed out that Swift’s speech marked the first time she publicly said his name and called him her boyfriend.

The 2024 VMA Artist of the Year said, “Everything this man touches turns into happiness and joy and magic. So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that,” about Kelce during the awards show in New York City on Sept. 11.

Kelce seemed to enjoy his girlfriend’s on-air shout-out, as he liked a clip of Swift’s speech that was shared on MTV’s Instagram.

The Chiefs then travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons on Sunday, September 22.
