Twitch just banned one of its biggest critics ahead of the exposé stream with Asmongold

One of Twitch’s biggest critics has been banned from the platform ahead of his planned exposé stream with Asmongold.

For more than a month, Twitch has been under fire over allegations of anti-Semitism on the site. The controversy started after users discovered that it had blocked account logins in Israel since the October 7, 2023 attacks.

Following this, Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres called on Twitch to “stop popularizing those who popularize anti-Semitism,” specifically highlighting Hasan’s political content.

Dan Saltman was one of X’s most vocal users, demanding the resignation of Twitch CEO Dan Clancy while urging companies to stop advertising. This appears to have been effective, as more than ten major companies have reportedly withdrawn their advertisements due to the controversy.

Twitch star Asmongold even planned to do a stream with Saltman, claiming there was information about the site that hadn’t even come to light yet.

‘I don’t want to reveal much, but he and I have had conversations about this. All the information that will come out has not come out yet,” he said. “In fact, some of the most damaging information has not yet come out.”

Although Asmongold said he would move to Rumble or Kick if Twitch banned him for his upcoming broadcast with Saltman, it doesn’t appear that stream will happen on the purple platform anyway.

On November 21, Saltman revealed that he had been banned indefinitely from Twitch for “extreme harassment.”

“Today (Dan Clancy) has banned me indefinitely. This happened immediately after I submitted a ‘data request’ in preparation for deleting my account, which would likely prevent me from talking to other creators,” he said. “Twitch is feeling the heat, but it’s only getting hotter.”

In a follow-up post, Saltman said he had been airing 24-hour broadcasts explaining how to engage in activism against Twitch’s advertisers and noted that he was banned shortly after submitting his request to have his account deleted.

Despite the setback, Saltman says he will continue his campaign.

“In the coming days and weeks, you will see significant steps being taken to break the shell of this hateful organization. In the meantime, the best thing you can do is continue calling your local reps and contacting advertisers to show them the hate that Twitch openly allows.”

As for the Asmongold stream, Saltman said the reason it hadn’t happened yet was because the streamer was creating a “big PowerPoint” that he wanted to go through.

But now that Dan has been banned, even appearing on Asmongold’s stream would be against the site’s community guidelines, so if the broadcast were to happen, it would have to take place on a different platform.

We’ll have to see what happens in the coming days and if Asmongold decides to join Rumble or Kick to keep this exposé flowing.
