Two Yankees fans who interfered with Mookie Bett’s catch were ejected from Game 5 of the World Series

Two New York Yankees fans were banned from Wednesday night’s World Series game in the Bronx after they entered the field of play and interfered with Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts.

In the first inning of Game 4 on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium, Betts sprinted into foul territory and caught a pop-up before a fan in a gray Yankees road jersey reached out and tried to snatch the ball from the right fielder’s glove.

Then another fan, wearing sunglasses and a pinstripe jersey, grabbed Betts’ right wrist as the player tried to secure the ball and glove to his left hand.

The pair threw the ball loose, but the umpires immediately ruled out Yankees hitter Gleyber Torres and the fans in the front row were thrown out.

“Last night, two fans were ejected from Yankee Stadium for blatant and unacceptable physical contact with Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts,” the Yankees said in a statement Wednesday. “The safety and security of players, fans and stadium staff is the fundamental element of any event held at Yankee Stadium, and it cannot be compromised.”

The Yankees went on to win Game 4 11-4, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday at 8:08 PM ET.

Los Angeles leads the best-of-7 series 3-1, and Wednesday night’s game in the Bronx will be the Yankees’ final home game of 2024.

“Tonight is the last home game of the year and we want every ounce of our fans’ passion to be on display. Yankee Stadium is known for its energy and intensity, but the exuberance of supporting your team can never cross the line by players deliberately put in the wrong place.” physical risk,” the club said.

“The Yankees and Major League Baseball have a zero-tolerance policy toward the type of behavior exhibited last night. These fans will not be allowed to attend tonight’s game in any capacity.”
