Tyler, the Creator Teases New Music With Ominous “St. Chroma’ video

Tyler, the Creator is apparently teasing his first new music in 18 months with a two-minute clip from a grim-looking new video apparently called “St. Chroma.”

It opens with a masked character, apparently Tyler, leading a line of masked people marching through the desert – his hair is in a comical, bunny style, but the black and white video and the song’s whispered, almost unintelligible rap and music – which ranges from sung vocals to a twisted chorus – has an ominous atmosphere. Sure enough, the people all march into a long container with the word ‘Chromakopia’ painted on it – then the video changes color and a hand is seen detonating a detonator and the container is destroyed in a massive explosion, killing all people inside.

A representative for Tyler did not immediately respond Variety‘s request for more information.

It’s Tyler’s first new music since the release early last year of the expanded version of his excellent 2021 album “Call Me If You Get Lost.” He performed at the Austin City Limits festival earlier this month and said this would likely be the last show he’d play for a while — which makes the new music doubly curious, since his annual Camp Flog festival in Los Angeles is scheduled for a while. month from now; No lineup has been announced, but the festival often announces its lineup just a few days before.

It’s all a far cry from his most recent video, for the song “Dogtooth,” in which Tyler switches back and forth between a construction background, where he takes a Rolls Royce, and a lavish background as he dresses for a walk. a herd of dogs. He revealed in a Q&A with fans that he found a hypoallergenic dog breed for the shoot due to his pet allergy. After being asked how he managed to create the scene, he replied: “hypo, and I took a bunch of allegra and prednitson (sic) mannnn.”
