Tyreek Hill Reacts to Chiefs’ Reunion with Kareem Hunt

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a significant loss on offense when starting running back Isiah Pacheco was injured with a fractured fibula. Pacheco’s injury will sideline him for at least 6-8 weeks, which has implications for Kansas City’s running back room.

Without Pacheco, the Chiefs could have leaned on Samaje Perine and Carson Steele to split time in the backfield. However, Kansas City decided to bring back a familiar face, signing Kareem Hunt to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Chiefs fans were excited to see Hunt back in Kansas City, where he spent the first two years of his career. Along with fans, a former KC player who had the chance to play with the veteran running back was excited to see the reunion happen.

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill posted on Twitter on Tuesday: “My boy Kareem is back in KC loving it.”

Hill played with Hunt in 2017 and 2018, helping Kansas City win 10 and 12 games, respectively. As a rookie in 2017, Hunt recorded 1,782 yards from scrimmage and 11 total touchdowns. Hill had 75 receptions (105 targets) for 1,183 yards and seven touchdowns in his second NFL season.

In 2018, Hunt had 1,202 yards from scrimmage and a career-high 14 total touchdowns. As for Hill, he continued to emerge as one of the league’s best playmakers. The speedy wideout had 87 receptions (137 targets) for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns.

As we all know, Hunt was placed on the NFL’s exempt list in December 2018 and released by Kansas City a few days later.

The former third-round pick signed with the Cleveland Browns in February 2019, where he would spend the final five years of his career. Chiefs fans would have loved to see what the core of Hunt, Hill, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce could have accomplished in 2018.

However, they will get another chance to see Hunt don a Chiefs uniform in 2024 as he attempts to help the Chiefs win another division title and the Super Bowl.
