The White stripes‘Jack White and Meg White have filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump for what they call the “blatant misappropriation” of a recording of their hit song Seven Nation Army in a campaign video.

The video that sparked the legal action was posted to X by Trump associate Margo McAtee Martin on Aug. 29 but has since been removed. It shows the Republican presidential candidate boarding a plane with the opening riff of Seven Nation Army playing in the background.

Jack White responded at the time via Instagram, writing:

Don’t even think about using my music you fascists. Lawsuit from my lawyers over this (to add to your 5000 others).

The singer has made good on the threat by filing a copyright infringement lawsuit, alongside Meg Wit, such as the White Stripes, who sought “significant financial damages” and named Trump, his campaign and Martin as defendants.

The lawsuit alleges that the campaign neither sought nor received permission from the band to use the song, and failed to respond to attempts to resolve the issue prior to the lawsuit.

The debate begins at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time (01:00 GMT) and is expected to last 90 minutes, with two commercial breaks.

Tonight’s debate will take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, a key battleground state. As with the previous debate between Trump and Joe Biden, there will be no audience.

Host of “World News Tonight” David Muir and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis will moderate the debate.

ABC News will air the debate live on its own network and on its streaming platform ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu. Several networks have also agreed to air the event live.
