USMNT’s Tyler Adams is fit to return for Bournemouth vs. Arsenal

Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams remains on course to make his season debut against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.

“He will lack some playing time, but that is normal,” Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said at a press conference on Friday. “He feels very good, is doing well, has a good feeling and has trained very well with us during this (international) break. He is ready.”

Adams, the United States captain at the 2022 World Cup, underwent back surgery in early July.

Adams was limited to three Premier League games last season due to a hamstring injury that kept him out from September 27 to March 13. He returned for two matches and then did not play for Bournemouth again after 30 March due to back spasms.

Adams, 25, played a full match for the US as the country was eliminated from the Copa América with a 1-0 group stage loss to Uruguay on July 1 and underwent back surgery days later.

Adams was not part of new American coach Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for friendlies against Panama and Mexico last week. The US defeated Panama 2-0 before losing to Mexico by the same score on Tuesday night.

He could return to the national team next month for a two-match Concacaf Nations League quarter-final against Jamaica.

Adams’ American teammate Tim Weah also returns this weekend.

The 24-year-old also missed the USMNT friendlies in October and has made just four appearances for Juventus so far this season while battling an ankle injury.

However, Juventus manager Thiago Motta said on Friday that Weah is fit to return for the Serie A side against Lazio on Saturday.
