UTRGV Athletics set for 15 basketball promotion days

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics on Monday announced 15 promotional games for the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball seasons, beginning with a basketball doubleheader on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

The celebration for each home game at the UTRGV Fieldhouse begins one hour before the scheduled tip-off at Schlotzsky’s Vaquero Village.

During each game, one lucky fan will be chosen to participate in each of the following promotions:

•Try a half-court shot for a chance to win a year’s supply of Church’s Texas Chicken.
•Attempt one to four shots, including a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and half-court shot, for a chance to win an increasing amount of money as part of the Rio Bank Money in the Bank competition.
•Identify the correct fry container in the Whataburger Fry Shuffle to win a Whataburger Gift Card.

Additionally, during Wingbarn’s “Get Loud for Wings” promotion, the loudest individual fan will win a Wingbarn gift card.

The loudest section at each Thursday home game will receive coupons to buy one get one free box combos at Raising Cane’s on the way out as part of the Cane’s Challenge.

Season tickets, mini-plans and single-game tickets can be purchased at UTRGVTickets.com. Current UTRGV students receive free admission with a UTRGV student card.

Mini subscription options include both 15-game packs for $99 and eight-game packs for $45.

Single-game tickets start at $6 for children 17 and under, $8 for current UTRGV faculty and staff and seniors (65+ years), and $9 for adults purchasing general admission seats. Reserved seating is $8 for children, $11 for seniors, $13 for all other fans in Sections A, D and H and $16 for all other fans in Sections B, C and G. Courtyard seating is sold out.

•Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal or teddy bear and throw it on the field during halftime. All stuffed animals will be donated to Driscoll and distributed to children in the hospital during the holidays.

Evening reading program

•UTRGV Athletics launches the Jr. Vaqueros Reading Program. Students from groups 1 to 8 can earn a free ticket and be recognized on the field at this competition by completing their reading log and showing it at the box office on game day. Fans attending UTRGV home games are expected to adhere to the Clear Bag Policy found at GoUTRGV.com/ClearBag. Additionally, fans must comply with the camera policies below:

Only qualified personnel may use professional cameras at UTRGV athletic events.

Fans are prohibited from bringing professional cameras, including cameras with detachable or interchangeable lenses, camera lenses wider than the camera body, or a fixed lens six inches or larger, to UTRGV Athletics locations. Fans are also prohibited from bringing camera bags, tripods, monopods and selfie sticks into the UTRGV Athletics facilities.

Personal handheld cameras, including cameras in phones, are permitted. However, under no circumstances may photography obstruct the entranceways, seats, aisles or the enjoyment of other guests. In addition, flash photography is strictly prohibited.

Fans are prohibited from selling photos taken at UTRGV athletic events.
