Warm, but breezy for Route 66 Marathon weekend

It’s a big weekend here in T Town with the Route 66 Marathon! Races will take place on both days, with the highlights being the 5 km and 1 mile fun run on Saturday and the full and half marathons and relays on Sunday. Luckily for the thousands of visitors who come to Green Country to watch, volunteer or run, it should be a great weekend!

The weather forecast for Saturday still starts chilly in the morning, with temperatures still in the 30s around 8 a.m. when the races start. Be sure to bring layers as temperatures will reach the mid 60s by the afternoon. Although this won’t be as much of a factor in the morning, winds will be blowing from the south near 20 mph by the afternoon . Despite the cool conditions in the morning, it should be a beautiful, sunny day!

With the warmer temperatures Saturday night, it will set the stage for a much warmer Sunday. Temperatures in the morning will likely be much warmer already in the upper 50s. Temperatures will rise quickly into the low and mid 70s by the afternoon, thanks to winds from the south at 15 to 20 mph. That headwind could be tough on some of those later miles 18 and beyond! Make sure you stay hydrated as temperatures will be about 15 degrees warmer than average!

Stay loose, stay safe and may all your times be personal bests!
