Jon Jones scored the first defense of his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight title tonight (Sat., Nov. 16, 2024) at UFC 309 when he was brutally stopped Stipe Miocic with a spinning kickback TKO from Madison Square Garden in New York City (watch highlights).

Interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall sat cage side as UFC captured his reaction to Jones’ nasty TKO win.

It wasn’t a crazy response, but Aspinall appeared to pay his respects to Jones after being called an asshole by the champion earlier this week.

Still, Jones said Joe Rogan After the fight he decided not to retire and to continue defending his title, but he did not want to mention any names. “Bones” said he will talk to the CEO of UFC Dana White And Hunter Campbell to decide what’s next, which means he wants a big pay raise to fight Aspinall.

While the mega fight between Jones and Francis Ngannou unfortunately never happened, there is an opportunity for the UFC brass to do the right thing and make a colossal heavyweight fight between Jones and Aspinall.

Will it happen? The ball is squarely in the UFC’s court.
