Will Caitlin Clark and the Fever Make the WNBA Playoffs?

The Indiana Fever are currently the hottest team in the WNBA. Indiana has won three games in a row and five of their last six games overall at the time of this writing. Will Caitlin Clark and the Fever reach the 2024 WNBA Playoffs?

Clark, a possible MVP contender, has played well all season. She has stepped up a notch since the Olympic break and is playing at an even more consistent level. Clark certainly seems poised to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award. Of course, Clark’s teammates have played well too. Overall, Indiana seems to be in a great position as a team and the standings are starting to reflect that.

The top five teams in the WNBA have already secured a spot in the postseason, meaning the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun, Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm will continue to play after Sept. 19.

In the WNBA, eight of the 12 teams earn a spot in the postseason. The Fever’s strong performance in recent action has propelled them to the sixth spot in the standings. They hold the same record as the Phoenix Mercury, as both teams are currently 16-16.

The Fever, who are the No. 6 seed, would play the No. 3 Lynx in the postseason if the season ended today. The Indiana and Minnesota season series are tied at one game apiece.

It goes without saying that the season isn’t over yet, and there’s still plenty of competitive regular season basketball to be played. The Fever have a good shot at reaching the postseason, but haven’t officially secured a spot yet.

Indiana’s magic number to officially punch their ticket to the playoffs is three. They must win three games or the Chicago Sky and/or Atlanta Dream must lose three games for the Fever to play past September 19th.
