Yankees make shocking lineup changes in World Series Game 4

With the season on the line, the Yankees have indeed made some lineup changes.

But they may not be the ones fans wanted or expected.

Aaron Boone has appointed Jazz Chisholm as cleaner, moving Giancarlo Stanton – the team’s leading hitter – to the fifth spot for Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night.

Austin Wells has also been reinstated as the starting catcher, batting eighth in the order.

Aaron Judge, whose struggles have been highly publicized throughout the postseason, is still firmly in third place.

The Dodgers, with a 3-0 series lead, throw a “Johnny Wholestaff” game against the Yankees, with righty reliever Ben Casparius as their opener.

“Really just trying to be a little more balanced while they’re doing a bullpen day,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of the lineup. “And because this is more in line with what I’ve been doing all year, like we’re facing a right-handed pitcher, this is kind of the rollout.”

Ultimately, Boone said, it was about trying to expose matchups against the Dodgers.

Boone also said he considered moving Judge to first, but was hesitant to do so with Gleyber Torres at the top of the lineup.
